Days 10 & 11: Graz, Slovenia, Croatia - A long tour and leisure time in Zagreb
When I arrived in Graz in the early evening, I messaged a couple of warmshower hosts - think couchsurfging, but specifically for bike tourers. After I sent out my requests, I tried out another platform that a friend told me about for finding a place to sleep as a short term visitor.
This is how I connected with Tamara, who offered me to stay at her spare room for the night. Because Tamara had to work the next day, we got up at 6:30 in the morning. I had two espresso before heading off into my longest cycling day so far.
I followed the Murradweg R2 out of Graz and enjoyed a relaxed ride before having a long breakfast at a bakery - coffee, bread, croissant and finishing the previous blog post.
I crossed the border to Slovenia still not sure how long I'll go and where I'll sleep tonight.
When I reached the border crossing to Croatia - the only bike on the highway border control point - I had set my mind to make it to Zagreb. I felt as if I could continue easily for as long as I wanted until around 20:00, when I got a bit dizzy and continued in a slower pace. I reached Zagreb fairly late, but happy and checked into a Hostel at the main square.
I spent Day 11 reading a book, cooking in the Hostel kitchen and reaching out to friends.
