MidsummerSail Regatta in 2024

MidsummerSail Regatta in 2024

I went sailing for the first time last year. I loved it and have been thinking about a longer sailing trup on and off since then. However, I didn't go sailing this year and also didn't plan for anything for 2024 either.

Luckily, my cousin Steffen is on fire when it comes to sailing. He did cruise on the Atlantic last year (a thousand nautical miles) and three weeks of sailing in autumn.

Afterwards he told me on one of our big family gatherings that' he'll participate in the Midsummer Sail regatta in 2024. I was intrigued and it was clear I wanted to join. The 900 nautical miles will take around 10 days of non-stop sailing. It starts on 20. June, mid summer in the southern most point of the Baltic sea and goes up all the way to the northern most point.

On the sailing note: I've been reading "Adrift" by Steven Callahan, over the last days. The book is about Steve's 76 days alone in a life raft in the Atlantic Ocean after his sailing boat sank. The book is a stark reminder for how uninhabitable Oceans really are for humans. And I mean even if you have the luck to be sitting on a life raft that allows you to survive for more then a few hours in the first place.

I'm so much looking forward to the cruise next year!
